I usually get a few orders every September/early October for 50 to 100 small Halloween shaped soaps that people plan to give out to trick-or-treaters. It is not something I would have lot of doing, but once I heard about I thought it was a great idea. Fun Glycerin Soaps for Fall

Fall is not really a season here in the desert of Southern Arizona, so having Fall themed soaps is about the only way to make it seem like there is a season between Summer and Winter. Below are some of my favorite fall soaps that I make and sell in on my Kj's Crafts website.

Eiffel Tower Soap - Ok, so this could be used anytime of year, but I always think of it as a fall soap because the two times I have been to Paris it was in October. Also, I always link of Paris in the fall from the line in the "I Wanna Do It All" song.

Large Leaf Soap - The large leaf soaps are a good mid-size soap making it ideal for using in the shower or for a long lasting soap for hand washing.

Large Maple Leaf Soap - This soap is also a good soap bar for fall. I really like the Maple Sugar scent I use for them.

Football Soap - For many Fall means football. Whether it is playing football or just watching college and/or NFL games.

Pumpkin Cartoon Mouse Soap - This is a new fall soap for this year. I love it because I am a Disney fan and it is fun to have different designs of this for different times of year.

Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies of all time. I used to watch it so much when I was a kid my mom took it away from me because it annoyed her to hear the same movie over and over. The Jolly Holiday soap set is inspired by the part of the movie where Bert, Mary, and the kids go on a jolly holiday by jumping into the chalk drawing.

The Jolly Holiday Soap Set includes an umbrella similar in coloring to the way Mary Poppins umbrella looks during the jolly holiday part of the movie. A little black and white penguin is included in honor of the penguins that act as waiters in the movie. It also has a carousel horse to represent the part where they ride a carousel and end up in a real horse race.

Back to School Soaps to Help Keep Kids Healthy

Soap is probably not on the school issued supply list, but it is something you might want to consider adding. Back to School time often means kids are around each other more sharing more than just their lunches. Germs seem to spread like wildfire in schools. One of the best ways to stay healthy is hand washing, but that is so boring and is especially hard to get the young kids to do because they are enjoying the fun stuff at school.

The below fun soaps might just be what you need to get stubborn kids to wash their hands to help keep them and your whole family and school community healthier. These glycerin soaps are great for at home, but they are can also be used at school. The liquid soaps in many public bathrooms including schools clean fine, but they can also dry out the skin. Glycerin soap like below are great for kids that tend to have dry skin to carry around with them in a little ziploc bag or soap dish.

Puzzle Piece Soaps - These soaps are fun for kids because they really do interlock. They are also a nice small size for little ones to wash their hands with.

Mixed Jewel Soaps - These are small soaps making them easy for carrying in your pocket. Just store be sure to them in a plastic bag in between uses or you'll end up with pocket lint on it and sudsy pockets.

Mini Figurine Soap - This little soap looks like a LEGO Mini Figurine. They are small and good for hand washing. Great for getting LEGO fans to wash their hands. The Small Building Block Soap is also great for hand washing and the Big Building Block Soap is good for bathing.

I finally have reorganized my soap inventory and am ready to begin taking custom orders again. The custom scent and color option is back up in my Kj's Crafts store here. I have updated it to have a description of many of the scents, especially ones that are not exactly obvious by their name.

I do not mind having to answer the many questions I get about what does this fragrance smell like, but I figured there might be some people that did not go as far as sending me a question that now can enjoy no longer wondering what that scent is without having to go through the extra effort to contact me.

I got the Coffee fragrance oil a while back with the intention of making these cute little coffee bean soaps, as a fun way for coffee lovers to wash their hands or just as a fun gift for coffee lovers. Finally, I have made some of them and boy do they really smell like coffee and are amazing. Note I do not like drinking coffee taste wise, but I do like the scent. It is a nice aroma to waken you up, although not quite as well as the actual caffeine content in a real cup of coffee, but it does not have the caffeine withdrawal effects either!

Introducing New Product Line: Window Clings

This week I began adding a new product line of window clings to Kj's Crafts. As of this post I only have four designs up (baseball, ice cream cone, patriotic star, calla lillies), but more to come. Please feel free to make requests to help expand my product line to suit your interests and window decorating needs.

The window clings are handmade by me. They cling well to windows and mirrors. I have also had success putting them on bookcase sides, walls, and doors. The decorating options are quite extensive. The best part is they are removable and resusable making. This makes them great for use in places you would rather not mess up the mirrors/windows/walls with stickers or those gel clings that tend to melt (especially on windows that get a lot of sun) and leave residue. They do stick to cars, but they would probably eventually fall off if put on the outside, as from my past experience only stickers and magnets stay well on the outside for extended periods of time.

This new item is a beautiful and very colorful star. It is a good size for bathing with, especially with its shape offering a good way to grip it. I have had penguin soaps in my soap store for a long time, as I am a penguin lover. I also really like seeing realistic penguins and it has been bothering me for a while that my penguin soaps were not all that realistic with my stock color being blue. I kept shying away from making them all black because I just did not like the option of them being a boring black unless they also had the white to look real. I finally found the time last weekend to experiment and I now have more realistic penguins available for sale in my store here. Note that they are $0.25 more than my regular blue penguins because they do take more effort to make than a simple one color pour of blue.

I Will Be at Catapalooza in Tucson, AZ October 4 & 5, 2009

I have signed up for another show this October. It is actually the weekend before the first show I signed up for, which is Butterfield Days in Benson, AZ. The Catapalooza Event is in Tucson at 10700 E. Tanque Verde Road. The event is a benefit event for the Casa de los Gatos cat shelter, but it is free to attend. The show's flyer says it is from 10am to 6:30pm on Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4, 2009, however I think it ends earlier than 6:30pm on Sunday because the vendor rules say break down must begin by 6pm. I will have similar stuff as at Butterfield Days, but this event is at least in Tucson and not out in Benson, so it might be easier for some of my local patrons to get out to. Today I added three new items to the Halloween Soaps category. They are all gift bags for the Halloween season. One is the Ghost Gift Bag Soap Set. This one is in a plastic ghost design gift bag with three Halloween themed soaps in it (2 Boo Ghosts and 1 Boo Bar). The second on is the Halloween Gift Bag Soap Set. New Items: Easter Soaps

I recently got a new Easter design mold and have added the items to my Kj's Crafts store Easter Category. The new designs are Easter Basket, Easter Bunny, Fancy Egg, and Hatching Chick. They are all $1.75 each, except the bunny design is only $1.25 each. Easter is coming up a week from Sunday and there is still time to order and receive them in time. I expect that orders made my Monday and maybe even Tuesday should arrive in time for Easter. The new designs are picture below.

Animal Dome Soaps and More Big Egg Colors for Farmer's Market Tomorrow

Tomorrow, March 25, 2009, I will be bringing some new soap items to my booth at the Green Valley Farmer's Market. I recently got a cool dome shaped soap mold that is perfect for embedding small toys in. I made two with fish in them and one with a lizard in it. The three can be seen in the photo below (click on photo for larger view). The two blue ones with fish are scented ocean and the lizard one is yellow and unscented. The soaps weigh about 4.25 ounces and are priced at $5 each. It is $0.50 more than my other 4.25 ounce soaps because of the added cost of the toys in them, which I think adds more than $0.50 of value because you have something left when the soap is finished.

Also, new this week are some more colors of the larger Easter egg soaps. I already have been bringing some purple and yellow ones. Now I also have some pink and orange ones and the big eggs and small eggs are each getting their own baskets this week instead of being crowded into one. All the egg soaps are unscented.

Next Wednesday, March 18, 2009, I will be bringing some of the larger Easter eggs glycerin soaps I make to the Green Valley Farmer's Market. The Large Easter Egg soaps weigh about 1.5 ounces and are priced at $1.75. I have so far made just yellow and purple ones. I do not know if I will be able to get more color batches done before next week, but I do plan to have green, pink/red, blue, and orange available by the Wednesday before Easter. I am doing all of the egg soaps as unscented. I am keeping my eBay store open and most of my inventory will remain there for now. I am mostly utilizing etsy for listings that allow you to make custom soap orders. I am also making it the only place I list my quilts and handmade candles (handpainted candles will remain in my eBay store for now.
